Gabrielle Sewell

Gabrielle Sewell is a versatile violinist and teacher from Covington, Kentucky. In 2022 and 2023, Gabrielle received the Three Arts Scholarship for excellent solo performances. She was the first prize winner of the Nancy F. Walker Memorial Scholarship in 2019 and an honorable mention recipient in 2023. In addition to performing, Gabrielle is a violin and chamber music faculty member at Cincinnati’s Starling Preparatory Program. She has enjoyed teaching Sassmannshaus Tradition at Villa Madonna Academy in Northern Kentucky as a faculty member of Immanuel School of Music (ISM).

Though Gabrielle is passionate about performance and education, she is also an avid explorer of contemporary and orchestral music. Local composers have written chamber music for Gabrielle, and she frequently participates in community outreach by performing contemporary works at venues in the Cincinnati area. Currently, Gabrielle is the principal second violinist for the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s (CCM) Philharmonia and was concertmaster of ISM’s Youth Sinfonia from 2015-2019.

As her opportunities to perform and teach have grown, Gabrielle has felt continuously grateful for her teachers and education. From 2015-2019, she was a member of the Cincinnati Starling Preparatory Project, where she enjoyed performing solos with the Starling Chamber Orchestra and Starling Showcase Orchestra. She was a student at ISM for seven years and was grateful to be surrounded by such inspiring teachers and mentors. Additionally, Gabrielle has cherished participating in Bowdoin International Music Festival as a scholarship student for five summers, the Chamber Music Intensive at CCM, Innsbrook Institute, and Cincinnati Young Artists. She graduated summa cum laude from The Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and is currently pursuing her master's degree in violin performance under the tutelage of Kurt Sassmannshaus.
