Julie Geiman is an active educator and musician who completed her Bachelor of Music Education from Mount St. Joseph University and received her Master of Education in Secondary Education and School Counseling from Xavier University. She studied percussion under the direction of John Gardner and studied piano under Marie Jakstadt and Atarah Jablonsky. Julie is currently the Education Director at Immanuel School of Music.

Teaching Philosophy:

Julie believes that music is a timeless art. She holds a deep love for her cross-generational studio and is committed to serving students of all ages and abilities. Her joy lies in giving students and families the opportunity to learn music, appreciate and discover our musical potential, and perform and experience music as an amazing gift at each lesson and recital performance. Her belief is, “Through music, we can reach the soul. Let our souls speak and in turn, we can speak to everyone.”

Justified Unique Learning In Education is the teaching philosophy she embraces to best meet each student’s needs and desire to learn. Building a strong rhythmic foundation, note reading, ear training, Music theory, and teaching students introspection and mindfulness awareness in lessons for enhanced musical development and focused practice are key elements in her approach to teaching.

Driven by a deep passion for lifelong learning and community service; she firmly believes that we should all share our unique gifts and talents with others, learn something new every day, and fearlessly embrace musical challenges. Julie encourages, “Let us choose to embrace God’s greatness, energy, and power through the transformative force of music.”

Performance:

As a dedicated educator and musician, Julie has made a significant impact on the tri-state area. She serves as a Music Minister at St. Joseph Cold Spring, is the Music Enrichment Instructor at Notre Dame Academy, and enjoys playing with local musicians to benefit others and the community. Her performances on percussion with the Southbank Quartet, Immanuel Orchestra, and other local talents have showcased her versatility. She has also lent her skills to the Cincinnati Metropolitan Orchestra, Brass Fellowship, Giving Glory Contemporary Music Group, Howard Bloemker Orchestra, Seven Hills Sinfonietta, Cincinnati Music Theatre, Showboat Majestic, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Musical Gift Tour, and various local events.

Fun Fact: Julie is a proud mother of an ISM Alumni and a current ISM student. She is very thankful for her son and husband, who show their support of ISM attending countless performances and lending a hand behind the scenes.

Favorite Pastime: Loves spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and enjoys home-cooked meals.
