Kelly Potter
Director of Children’s and Women’s Ministries
At Immanuel we approach family ministry with an integrated and connectional mindset. We recognize that the primary spiritual influence in the life of any child is that child's parents or guardians. Our goal is to provide parents with the tools and support that they need to effectively disciple their own children. We seek to support families by providing age-appropriate environments for children and youth to explore and experience their faith. In order to accomplish these goals, we use the Orange curriculum which provides us with a model for aligning leaders and parents, equipping parents, and growing the faith of children and youth.
Take a few moments to browse through the information below. You will find a ton of reasources for you to use at home to reinforce what your children and youth are learning at church.
We recognize that, in order to make a difference in the life of a child, the church must partner with parents. If the family is red and the church is yellow, then together we are Orange. Orange is a strategy which allows the church and parents to align in order to efficiently disciple children from the cradle to college. Check out the buttons below for more information.
We have identified particular faith development markers that each of our programs work toward. They are represented on the Phase Diagram.
Each semester we host a Family Experience that runs with our Wesley Night Programming on Wednesday nights. Check out the Connect page to find out more information.
The Parent Cue App provides you with updates on what we are teaching and ideas on ways that we can partner together to make a larger impact on the lives of our students.
The Parent Cue Live is a podcast hosted by Orange which is designed to help families do family better. They feature weekly parenting experts. Check it out.
Sometimes it can be difficult to come up with ideas on how to spend time together as a family. Each week we send a Parent Email full of ideas on how you can spend meaningful time with your children and students.
Every Sunday morning, children’s programming runs during the services. Be sure to check the Immanuel Kids Page for details. You can find out what we are studying by downloading the Parent Cue app.
The Parent Cue is a document which outlines how you can support what our children are currently studying on Sunday morning. You can pick up a paper copy when you drop your child off or download the app by following the link below.

Immanuel’s Confirmation Class is an opportunity for students to learn what it truly means to be a Christian and a member of Christ’s church. Ultimately, the confirmation experience leads to an opportunity for each student to make a public profession of faith in Christ and to join Immanuel Church as a full member. Our confirmation experience is always one that we encourage youth to participate in because we often see an extraordinary connection between their confirmation experience and youth ministry participation. The vast majority of youth who have participated in confirmation have become consistently involved in our youth ministry where they are given many opportunities to grow in Christ!
Our Confirmation Class of 2025, offered to incoming 8th and 9th grade students and possibly those who perhaps couldn’t participate in the past, will consist of the following:
12 Wednesday evening classes beginning on January 8th (Parent Night), which will focus on what we call, “The (16) Absolute Basics of the Christian Faith” and Spiritual Practices.
A Confirmation Overnight held from January 10th to January 11th at Immanuel’s Central Campus, which will focus on team building and service.
A Confirmation Retreat held from April 25th to April 27th at Potter’s Ranch in Union, KY, which will focus on relationship building, worship, and the means of God’s grace, which is nearly 2/3 of our experience.
Confirmation Sunday on May 4th, where confirmands will have the opportunity to profess their faith in Christ and their intention to join our church, if they so choose.

We are excited to hear the stories of Mark and Ginger Whitacre. Mark was the highest-ranked executive of any Fortune 500 company to become a whistleblower in US history. He is responsible for uncovering the ADM price-fixing scandal in the early 1990's (the basis of the 2009 movie The Informant!, starring Matt Damon). His wife Ginger forced him to turn himself in. He wore a wire for the FBI every day for three years. You won't want to miss hearing the story of redemption God has worked in and through their lives and marriage. We will explore how God authored marriage to be a relationship of mutual love and investment by both partners - with Him at the center.
