Little Maestros - Thursdays @ 4pm-5pm
Intermediate Theory - Thursdays @ 5:30pm-6:30pm

Tuition: $90 per student

Attendance:
We understand that students may miss a class or two due to family vacations, other activities, etc. Students are still encouraged to participate in the classes.

Class Description

Our Music Theory Classes are designed to increase your knowledge of music theory, music history, and much more. It will be an exciting time of group learning for everyone! We offer two different level classes for students. Discover new concepts, learn about new composers, and experience things about music you may have never known before!

Little Maestros:  Beginner Level

This course is designed for beginning students ages 7 through 11, having music experience of 1 - 2 years. The main goal of this course is to develop an understanding of the basic elements of music – pitch, rhythm, intervals, tempo, basic music vocabulary. Each element will be introduced and practiced through listening, singing, writing and playing games.  Also, students will be introduced to different music styles and genres and learn more about some composers representing them.

What students will learn / master in this class:
·       How to improve your ear and rhythm
·       How to recognize basic rhythm patterns
·       How to differentiate intervals and basic chords (minor and major)
·       How to understand key signatures and scales
·       How to write simple music and rhythm dictations
·       How to understand basic Italian tempo values and dynamic marks
·       What style the music piece you are playing represents and what is interesting to know about its composer.

Intermediate Theory

This course is designed for intermediate level students – age 12 through 18 or having music experience of 3+ years.

The main goal of this course is to continue learning basic and advanced music elements – rhythm, tempo, pitch, tonality, intervals and chords, articulation, dynamics, and basic music form. Each music element will be introduced and learned through listening, singing, writing, interactive tools and music games. In addition, students will be introduced to the music styles of the Baroque period, Viennese Classicism, Romanticism, and Modernity.

What students will learn / master in this class:
·       How to improve your ear and rhythm
·       How to differentiate intervals, basic triads and chords
·       How to understand the circle of fifth, key signatures and scales
·       How to write music and rhythm dictations – which will help you to recognize by ear  and write down any melody
·       How to understand basic Italian tempo values, dynamic and articulation marks
·       How to more accurately identify the works and the composer’s style, as well as place it in the timeline of the music history.
