Rhythmic Analysis (Geared towards all levels)
Learn how to look at your music in a linear fashion to help you learn your music at a faster rate as we do a rhythmic analysis together.
Sight-Reading Rhythms (Geared towards all levels)
Enhance your musical skills with Sight-Reading. Learn how to scan your music before you begin, spot patterns, and strengthen your music reading skills as we sight-read multiple rhythmic passages.
Rhythmic Prep for Auditions (Open to all) - Geared towards students auditioning for ISM Concert Strings, Youth Orchestra & Sinfonia
Enhance rhythmic skills while getting a head start on your ISM audition prep; Rhythmic notation, proper counting, meter changes, identifying rhythmic phrases, practice tips, & our friend the metronome. Gain a greater understanding of rhythmic notation & counting while we focus on audition excerpts linearly through rhythmic eyes. Receive an individualized rhythmic analysis of the fall ISM audition excerpts to use with their private teacher during summer audition preparation. Blossom into a rhythmic guru with Rhythmic Prep!
Rhythmic Dictation (Geared towards all levels)
Develop your musical ear and gain a deeper understanding of rhythms as you are given rhythms to listen to and then learn how to accurately write them down. Once you have mastered the basics you will also learn how to rewrite rhythms in multiple ways, transfer rhythmic patterns across time signatures, and more.
Rhythmic Drills & Metronome Usage (open to all)
Get ready to be drilled with repetition of multiple rhythms with emphasis on staying in time with the metronome at increasing tempos while also receiving practice & playing tips.
Developing Rhythmic Hand Independence (open to all)
Learn how to play two rhythms at once as you begin to develop rhythmic hand independence. Crossing the midline we increase communication to both hemispheres of the brain. Engage the whole body and brain as you actively practice cross-lateral communication with multi-layered rhythms.
Percussion Techniques & Methods (open to all)
Curious about the percussion family? Now is your chance to get up close and personal as we learn how to hit, strike or shake these amazingly fun percussive instruments. Students experience basic percussive techniques including how the instruments sound differ, holding mallets, identifying percussive instruments, and more.
Basic Percussion Composition (Open to students in ISM Youth Orchestra & ISM Sinfonia)
Do you love to create? Have you ever wanted to compose music? Now is your time to learn how to put your creativity to paper and compose a simple percussion composition. Students will gain hands-on experience with percussion instruments, compose an original work, and hear their original composition be brought to life. Completed course percussion compositions will be performed (date TBD).

Mindful Drumming - mind-body-soul (open to all ages)
Drumming is powerful & therapeutic in nature. Combine community drumming, mindfulness activities, focused breathing & reflective guided journaling - mindful drumming gives a retreat atmosphere to rejuvenate your spirit. Cajons, hand drums, shakers, tongue drums, & other percussive instruments are used as a source to release tension, lower stress, become empowered, be part of a group, & have fun. Are you ready to embrace the power drumming energy creates? Encouraged to bring a yoga mat & notebook for a journaling activity.
Percussion Ensemble (geared to students taking lessons on any instrument for 3+ years)
No prior percussion experience necessary. Play percussion instruments & learn percussion ensemble music. For the assignment of parts, participants are required to submit a video on their primary instrument to demonstrate their musical ability using a piece of their choice.
Small Ensemble (geared to students taking lessons on any instrument for 3+ years)
Play small ensemble selections of various Instrumentation dependent upon participants. For the assignment of parts, participants are required to submit a video on their primary instrument to demonstrate their musical ability using a piece of their choice.
Drumline 101 (Geared towards grade school students grade 5-8)
Bass Drums, Snare Drums, & Cymbals, oh my! Curious about percussion? Do you like to tap out rhythms? Students test out their skills on percussion instruments while they learn basic percussive techniques, rhythms, drumline warmups, & a simple drumline cadence.

Let the Games Begin! Develop a stronger grasp of rhythms, steady beat, and feeling the pulse with Hacky-Sac Rhythmic Fun, games, and movement activities.
Rhythm BINGO (Geared towards all levels)
Let the Games Begin! Can you hear a rhythm and identify its pattern & written notation? Rhythm BINGO is a fun way to reinforce rhythmic pattern understanding while having fun playing BINGO.

A great Cardio Workout and fun relaxed Social Activity great for all ages. Combine Highly Energized Music, Drum & Dance like Movements while using rhythm sticks and you get an amazing cardio workout for your mind-body-spirit. Unleash your inner drummer, join the fun, exercise, and become one with rhythm doing Cardio Drumming. Adjust movements to your ability. No experience is required. This one-day clinic welcomes brass, woodwind, and percussion players in grades 7 to 12 (adult players are also welcome). BWP topics include instrument care, practice & playing tips, and demonstrations, rhythmic studies, & sight-read music.
